Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2024/2025 academic year at Allesandro Elementary and Environmental Science Magnet! I hope you’ve had a refreshing summer and are ready to embark on yet another exciting journey of learning and growth.

 

As we navigate this year together, our core focus will continue to be on environmental-based education. Our project-based learning approach will provide students with the hands-on experiences necessary to comprehend the beauty and complexity of our world. By actively exploring real-world problems and challenges, our students will develop essential skills in critical thinking, collaboration, and communication, fostering a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship.

 

Academic Excellence

We are proud of our high academic standards and continuous improvement in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. Our students excel with a “Green” rating in ELA and a “Blue” rating in Math, reflecting significant achievements above state standards. We are committed to ensuring that every student achieves mastery of grade level standards through rigorous instruction, individualized support, and engaging activities.

 

Comprehensive Arts Education

Our Creative Network program and Cultural Arts Passport connect students with Los Angeles’ finest cultural organizations, enriching their learning experience. Students receive consistent arts instruction in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts, promoting creativity and cultural appreciation.

 

Writing and Literacy Programs

Our writing programs, guided by “The Writing Rope” and “Keys to Early Writing,” develop skilled, confident writers. We will continue to implement the Accelerated Reader program to bolster vocabulary and comprehension skills. Our Early Literacy Academies provide targeted interventions to ensure every student progresses in their literacy journey.

 

Physical Education

Through the LAUSD Physical Education Teacher Itinerant Program (PETIP), we deliver high-quality physical education that promotes lifelong health and well-being. Our program focuses on the whole child’s development through exemplary physical education lessons.

 

Safety and Social-Emotional Learning

Creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment is a core part of our mission. Our philosophy, “I take care of…,” promotes responsibility and care for oneself, classmates, the school, and the Earth. We focus on promoting social awareness and cultivating a growth mindset in our students.

 

Technology Integration

We harness the power of technology to enhance learning and achieve academic excellence. Every student has access to a personal device and interactive Promethean boards in each classroom, ensuring personalized and engaging educational experiences.

 

Exciting New Improvements

We are thrilled to announce several exciting new improvements to our campus, including a beautiful new garden and significant infrastructure upgrades. These enhancements create a nurturing and environmentally friendly learning environment for our students.

 

Finally, I would like to reemphasize our unyielding commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment. Every student, without exception, has the right to learn, grow, and thrive in a setting free from harm and prejudice.
